Information and witnesses sought

Police are seeking information relating to a sexual assault which happened in Penzance on Saturday 25 January.

The incident occurred at around 12.40am outside Lloyds Bank on Marketplace and involved a female victim and a male offender.

Detective Constable Jamie Ellingham said: “We are investigating reports of an alleged sexual assault which happened following a night out in Penzance.

“We are keen to trace several women who came to the aid of the victim. Anyone who has information about this incident is asked to come forward.”

He added: “We are aware that a video of the incident has been shared on social media and while we would like to speak to those who shared it, we would also urge others not to share it further, because they could be committing an offence.”

A 30-year-old man from Penzance has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and has been released pending further enquiries.
